8 Ideas To Help You Embrace The Time You Have Now

Updated: Apr 19, 2021

You’ve been given the gift of time. So what do you do with it? I've got ideas to fill the time you have while indoors in a productive way. Creating a new daily routine is easier thank you think, even while staying in the comfort of your own home.

Instead of focusing on what you can no longer do, why not shift your mindset and realize all the things you can....especially now that you have the time to do it!

Ask yourself 2 questions:

1) What have you wanted to do but didn’t have the time to do it?

2) What have you been putting off because you had to prioritize other responsibilities?

As we practice social distancing you can focus your energy on other things focus your energy on you! Focus your energy on what you can do!

Here are 8 powerful tips to help you embrace the time you have been given.

1) Take an online course.

Taking an online course right now would help you focus on your personal or professional development. There are also so many FREE courses online right now that you can begin taking while you are at home! Many schools, coaches, and websites are offering free courses so you can use their learning systems so why not take advantage?

2) Read an interesting book.

Reading a book can be both entertaining and informative. Either way without being able to entertain yourself like you normally would, outside of the house, a book can keep your mind focused on something creative and even intellectual.

3) Learn a new skill.

Learning a new skill can help you develop yourself in an area where you have always wanted to expand your knowledge, skills, and abilities. You can do this for fun, or even to advance further in a particular area you can use in your career.

4) Start a new project

I personally have so many things I want to do at home. Whether it's reorganizing my closet, hanging up some shelves, redesigning my bedroom, the list goes on an on. These are all projects I have been wanting to start but haven't had the opportunity to. Do you have any potential projects that interest you right now? Now you have the time to research, plan, and dive in for any project you have in mind.

5) Work out.

With social distancing and regulations to help you stay safe, the facilities you used to work out, stay fit, and active are now closed. Therefore, you have had to change your normal work out regimens. This is unfortunate however, it doesn't change the fact that you can still find ways to stay active and work out! No excuses! Get creative and come up with a new work out regimen, and if this isn't your area of expertise, take advantage of all the trainers sharing work outs online! Some are even leading free virtual sessions you can join from home!

6) Listen to an informational podcast.

Having to implement social distancing can leave you feeling alone, isolated, or like no one understands you. Finding a podcast you can listen and relate to can definitely help you feel like you aren't alone. Maybe you can even learn something while listening and be entertained at the same time!

7) Plan your transition to a new career.

Transitioning your career is a goal that doesn't just happen overnight. It takes time to plan your steps, and time for you to actual accomplish. Why not take the time to plan your future steps now! It's possible. Whether it's planning going back to school, attending networking events, or seeing what opportunities are available for you to apply for, this can be an exciting endeavor for you to begin planning now for your future happiness and success.

8) Update your resume.

I am an advocate for staying resume ready! Most people put off updating their resumes... have you? If so now that you have some time, update your resume with any job changes, new job duties, added responsibilities, certifications, skills, etc. This will make it easier for you when you want to apply for your next career move.

If you feel bored at home or don't know what to do with your time, these 8 ideas can help you embrace the time you have in a productive way, all from the comfort of your own home. Shift your mindset, stay positive, and productive with the time you have been given!
